Excellent friendly reception , helpful and informative. Good clean comfortable room well decorated and spotless. Far superior to other 'Hotels' in the area , excellent value for money. Good cooked breakfast.
This was our second stay at this hotel as we attended last year for v festival and it was a great location so we decided to come back. Not far from supermarkets also so we could stock up in the asda or tesco down the road. Also a little pub which was a 5 minute walk. Room was clean, staff were lovely. Although our shock at 530 when the fire alarm went off wasn't great but obviously not the hotels fault. Thanks for another great stay.
this was a wonderful place, it was clean and tidy , the staff was brilliant nothing was to much trouble, great atmosphere around this place, over haul this little gem of a hotel was absolutely fantastic for what we paid the room was large, very clean loved it if we are ever in the area again we would definitely give this place a call first.
thanks to all the staff who made this so enjoyable
I would like to thank the polite, funny and caring staff here, my visit was for sad reasons, however, I was made to feel relaxed, welcome and I really do love your barlady...she's sooo funny. I will re visit, without hesitation.....thanks staff xx
The York Hotel was a great stay. Especially having sky tv in our room was a real treat, along with the room itself being a delight as well as the staff and the food on offer.
However the one thing that let the experience down immensely was the fact the fire alarm went off at 5am for no particular reason. There were no staff on site whatsoever to deal with the situation which I'm pretty certain is illegal - I'm not sure how you can leave all of your guests to their own devices. I've never been to a hotel that isn't staffed 24 hours before and I felt very uneasy about it.
Pleasant hotel at a reasonable rate. Tom was a nice size with onsuite shower. Breakfast was a tad poor, going early would ensure getting it fresh. Overall nice.
I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and enjoyed my stay. This time it was a totally different story. The room was poorly lit, poor standard of furnishings, uncomfortable bed. Breakfast was substandard and moderate service. Definitely would not recommend to friends in the future.
I always try to stay at the York when in Wolverhampton, it's a lovely hotel . However on the last occasion when we came down for breakfast there was no bacon/sausage/egg left to be told that once it's gone it's gone . So if you are staying make sure your down nice and early to get the lions share , other than that lovely hotel to stay and I will do so again but I will be down sharpish in future

Disliked: Room comfort
get what you pay for
stayed for one night as going to a sport event in town, not the best nights sleep bed very old an creaked every time moved glad it was just one night
We chose this hotel simply for a place to crash after a night out. I wasn't expecting the ritz, but I do expect a clean room. The bathroom, in particular the toilet was filthy. The top floor room was also quite drafty.
On the plus side, the receptionist was friendly on check-in, and the downstairs bar area seemed nice. It's only a short taxi ride to the city centre. However unfortunately I cannot recommend based on the state of the rooms.
I rarely rate anything full marks, so to give this 4/5 is great. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. It was fantastic that they have a fridge in the room and give you fresh milk instead of the normal capsules. They didn't empty the bins daily but this was no big deal for me given the price which was inclusive of breakfast. They even offered take away breakfast sandwiches! It was a great bargain, in a nice neighbourhood with an Indian restaurant next door, a pub in very close proximity and nice restaurants within 15-20 mins walk. I would stay there again if I didn't need gym or spa facilities.
We stayed here for v festival and we couldn't have picked a better place. The staff were very helpful especially the blonde lady who was on reception on Saturday morning, she was very happy and helped us as much as she could! The only thing I didn't rate was the bed as it was slightly uncomfortable but it wasn't too bad! To get to v we got a taxi and this cost us £25 so the location was good as we would've had to get a taxi or bus into town anyway so this is a great hotel to stay in for the festival if you don't want to camp! Only let down was we wanted breakfast but food isn't served on a weekend but the woman on reception was very helpful and pointed us in the direction to a little family pub down the road which served all you can eat for £3.99. Hopefully we will be back next year thank you for a lovely stay!
This is a beautiful old mansion converted into a hotel in 1960. Thankfully most of the features have been kept and antique furniture are everywhere including in the bedrooms. The "secret patio" is a joy to sit and enjoy breakfast which was not just a Continental breakfast, but a full English IF you wanted it..at no extra cost. Because of the age and trying to keep the hotel in its original its of course difficult to maintain, and so I have a "good" because there are marks on the bedside tables, which must have been from a very sloppy guest. I would definitely stay again, and recommend it highly to anybody who is looking for a good, not expensive hotel VERY near the city centre of Wolverhampton, yet in a nice part.

Liked: Cleanliness
Small room, but clean and perfectly adequate for a stopover after a friends anniversary party. Shower was a bit feeble but it was clean. Breakfast was a serve yourself affair with a reasonable choice of cereal, a toaster and a couple of hot selections, nice coffee. Big let down was the fire alarm and evacuation in the early hours but assuming that isn't a regular feature, it was fine and we would use the York again.
