My family and I were in Ashland attending a funeral. We stayed two nights. The hotel was extremely clean as were the rooms. The staff were friendly and courteous. We enjoyed the free breakfast. The waffles are the best. We would defintely stay at this hotel the next time we are in Ashland visiting family.
Not only was the room clean, comfortable & quiet, but the staff was very friendly and helpful. When I went to the desk to ask for a recommendation for dinner they gave me a piece of a staff members birthday cake. Very hospitable and recommended a great place to order a pizza from.
The reason for the 4s: Maintenance & Cleanliness: On one day the room was cleaned and redressed, but new towels were forgotten. On the last day we stayed there we noticed a leak in our room that was causing mold to grow. It was on the last day, and given the kindness and professionalism of the staff, if we had asked for a different room (had we found the leak earlier in the trip) I am sure it would have been arranged. Neighborhood: I like to take a walk in the evening and the area around the hotel does not allow for it. There are some homes and local streets, but there are no bike or sidewalks. The hotel is very quiet; I never heard road noise even though it is right off R60, just down from 64, and a 5 minute walk from a Walmart. It was a very nicely located hotel.
I had a pleasant experience at the hotel. The rooms are nice & updated, the beds are comfortable, the staff is friendly & accommodating & the continental breakfast was good
I was impress with the bathroom. It was roomy with plenty of countertop space and shelf under the sink area. Room had a nice layout with the desk, closet and a microwave with fridge was an added bonus. The night light was well done. This is one of the nicest place I ever stayed in.
Was very pleased with this hotel. The staff was wonderful, kind and considerate. The rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The breakfast bar looked and smelled great and the never ending supply of fresh coffee was very convenient and very good. Very impressed with this hotel. Would definitely come again if in that area.
All staff members were very nice and efficient. Our bathroom sink had a hairline crack in it but otherwise, the room was nice and also was clean. The hall carpets looked like they could have used a good cleaning and a utility room was left open the entire stay - inside , mops and cleaning equipment were visible and this room looked messy. We had to go by this room EVERY time to get to our room. However, the food was good and coffee was excellent !
My family and I needed a hotel the night before an early flight from Huntington. As it turned out, my cousin went into labor at King' Daughters Medical Center that day, so we needed a hotel near Ashland, too. This hotel was clean, affordable, and had a decent breakfast. Would highly recommend and would stay again.
Flew in to Charleston, WV and drove to area as had some business in Huntington, WV however after reading plenty of hotel reviews for the hotels in Huntington, WV on trip advisor it really seemed as if the quality and experience in that city was sub-par so we elected to look at Ashland (which Trip Advisor peeps recommended and we were not disappointed!)
We stayed here for two nights and arrived late on Thursday night and got a nice corner room on second floor (Room 203). The room was a king-sized bed which was nicely appointed with flat screen TV, two fridges, a kitchen sink and a nice roman blind for window (which looked out to extension of parking lot, car wash, and walmart so it was nice to close the blind and not stare at the walmart eye-sore). The room itself was large however if there was any complaint it was the closet space which was smaller than usual.
There was a free breakfast with a good variety of juices, coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt and individual cereals (i cant remember the hot food options but there was a nice variety of items for everyones taste)
Pros: Newer Hampton Inn, free daily breakfast, complimentary internet, pool area and pleasant staff and common areas
Cons: Small closet and that is it!
Would stay here again in a heartbeat as we enjoyed our stay! Thanks to the wonderful staff!
Cleanliness is my main concern for any hotel stay and this hotel is one if the cleanest I've stayed in. Beds were very comfortable as well. Nice complimentary breakfast.
I stayed in this motel the night that the huge storm hit the midwest. Ashland was on the southern end of the storm mass and it was hit pretty hard. It is difficult to make an honest assessment of the hotel. I checked in, everything was fine, left to go into town for a family meeting -- I was there to conduct a funeral. As I left to go back, the storm raged thru. When I got to the motel, the power was off. It was off all night, and still so when I left around 11:00. "Like camping out" someone said. Well, not exactly. I couldn't open the window, so the room was stuffy. Otherwise, the room was clean, nicely appointed, and I did get a reasonable little cold breakfast in the morning. About the neighborhood, well there is not much around that is appealing, no food places to speak of other than a pizza place. It is convenient to the interstate, but not good for getting into Ashland...too far of a drive.
We are in Ashland for business once in awhile. We stayed here before, so came again because we loved it so much. The rooms are extremely clean, and this is the most comfortable bed I have ever had in a hotel. The ONLY negative is that the rooms are a little small, and the bathroom vanity is very small for all my stuff! But overall, LOVE this hotel. Had to meet several people in area, and recommended they all stay here.
The rooms were very nice and updated, the beds were VERY comfortable! New comforters for every guest (stripping the bedspread is usually the first thing I do, but didn't have to this time). Room was very quiet too. Staff was friendly. I will probably be making more trips to this destination, and I will ALWAYS stay at this hotel!
We first visited years ago, arriving very late, and hungry and were impressed at the caring staff, who rounded up a nice snack for our small family. This visit the staff was every bit as friendly, our room was great, the beds clean and comfortable. (I love the new console in the bathroom).
I left my phone charger upon checkout, but when I remembered to stop by the hotel two days later, they had it in a bag labeled with the room number in which we stayed.
The only thing I graded other than a five, was "surrounding neighborhood". But hey, it was rural KY and it was convenient to restaurants and a Walmart. Love this place.

Liked: Room comfort
Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Staff was rude at check-in & there were spiders in the restroom
This was my 1st stay at a Hampton. The location was good. There weren't diabetic options for breakfast unless you count sugar-free jelly...all the cereals, fruits, etc. were high sugar/low protein options. Recommend others to request 2nd floor room if your a light sleeper.
Wow, what can I say? This hotel was by far the best that the wife and kids I have stayed at in the southern Ohio, KY, WV area. The location is great and the hotel staff was very attentive. Good staff, great room, clean, with a heated pool even! What can I say? I have tried a number of hotels down there, but this is by far, my favorite. Finally, good service in this area. The only suggestion I would say, would be to have the hotel staff maintain two staff members until 11pm. Our front desk person was so helpful, but way way too busy for one person on staff. Go to this place! You won't be disapointed!
