Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
The hotel staff was very helpful - tried several times to address an issue I was having with the wifi connection in my room (I ended up going to the lobby where it worked fine). It's very near Central Station - just 2 stops away on the tram (which runs at time, below ground) - so it's vey easy to get to and from. I'm not a big fan of being in the midst of busy downtown areas, so this place was good because it's just far enough away to be "away from it all". And, if one is in the market for diamonds and jewelry, the location is perfect (we did not take advantage of that particular feature!) Breakfast was adequate, but nothing fancy, basically the usual continental fare. If back in Antwerp, I'd likely stay there again.

It was good for the price paid.
The breakfast was great and the location super! The room was not cleaned well.
The Diamond hotel in Antwerp, some of the staff were not helpful at all,I asked for tissues on Numerous occasions, and the receptionist said they have as from now stopped putting tissues in the bathroom.
Colazione abbondante.
This is a very good hotel. Rooms are very comfortable and the buffet breakfast was excellent.
Unfortunately parking is very difficult, the nearest recommended restaurants are 15min walk through unattractive streets which is maybe no problem on a summer evening but on a dark rainy night in winter not so good. The free wifi signal was too low strength to be useful. BUT, this is still a very good hotel inside the door so decide what is important.
Badkamer was hetzelde.
We had several problems with the hotel. First, the hotel advertised free on-site parking but when we arrived the hotel parking garage was closed. There was no parking nearby and we had to park far away at our own expense (the hotel offered a 25% discount but the parking bill for 2 nights still came to 28 euros). Second, we needed an iron but the one they gave us was a fire hazard with exposed wires! Finally, a blanket that we brought with us went missing after the room was cleaned.
well, when I entered the hotel my immediate thought was "oh boy, what a dump"....
it's an apartments/hotel building, all very basic and the deal is like this: "looking for a rooftop with Internet? that's what you get, no more".
it's not worth more than 2 stars.
examples:
- there was pee in the toilet room, hairs on the bad.
-everything is extremely cheap - plastic glass for warm water, broken furniture, cheap bad stuff, cheapest towels you can get (feel like an old rug...) etc.
- the floor and street (if on that side) is extremely noisy, and yes, people smoke in the rooms and floor, its not forbidden if you open the window a bit....
- when I asked about dinner possibilities in the area I was given a brochure to order from a local junk food pasta/pizza place, said that's the only option around.
-breakfast was poor, forget about warm food.
- despite promising parking, it's over-going "renovation", but parking in the street is possible until 9:00.
- the stuff tried, but there's nothing they can do.
- room was cold, radiator didn't help too much and they have no portable heaters. (though it was exceptionally cold that day)
all in all, don't expect anything else other than free internet and a cheap bad for the night.
The hotel stay was only one night but the mattress was very uncomfortable especially as it was too big for the bed. We did ask the staff to do something about it but they said we would have to wait until the morning. Otherwise everything else was excelllent.
The hotel room was basic however it was very clean. However it was the overall service provided by the two young ladies at the main reception that stood out. They were extremely helpful and were a credit to the hotel. We were in Antwerp for unfortunate circumstances; the unexpected death of a dear Aunt and the two ladies at the reception made our stay less stressful by providing us information that we needed, translating documents and always ordering taxi's for us when required. We wish to express our deepest thanks to them.
